How can Fatty Liver Disease be Prevented?

Why Fatty Liver is Life Threatning?

Most of the people do not take Fatty Liver very seriously. Fatty liver happens when excess fat is deposited in the liver which is the beginning of Lipotoxicity which means inflammation in the body because of excess fatty acids.

20% of people progress to liver failure by Fatty Liver in 10 -15 years of time.

In Diabetic patients, this progression is much faster and may cause Cirrhosis in less than 5 years. As per the studies currently, 40% of Indians have fatty liver, & in the coming time the leading cause of Liver Failure and the need for Liver Transplantation is going to be NASH or Fatty Liver.

Fatty Liver Has 3 Stages:

  • Stage 1: Initially there is a fat accumulation in the liver.
  • Stage 2: Slowly this starts causing Liver Fibrosis.
  • Stage 3: If this condition is not reversed then the Liver enters into a stage of Cirrhosis and failure.

Note: We can reverse Fatty Liver only in the early stages when fibrosis has not started or is minimal. Once this has progressed to significant fibrosis then the disease is irreversible.

So, Fatty Liver is a very serious health problem and should be treated and reversed as soon as possible as a health priority & should not be ignored.
